Beware the beast "man"
I'm really looking forward to this flick (I love all the original apes movies) especially since it seems to be a reimagining of my favorite "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes." Anyway this image just popped into my head last night while I was trying to fall asleep so I figured I had to draw it.
I've also done a portrait of the original Caesar from "Conquest" but that's in my art book, I might post it here eventually but you never know.
Planet of the Apes you guys. Awesome.

Fan Expo 2011: the artbook
What's that you ask? Well I'll tell ya. Its the cover for the artbook I'll be selling at the Fan Expo at the end of August in Toronto. If you're in town and like all that crazy nerdy stuff you should swing by my table and buy some art and comics and stuff. This book will be there and its 68 pages of monsters, girls, comics and other crazy stuff that I did in my spare time. If you like looking at this blog you'll probably dig the book too. As an added bonus these will be a limited run as I'll be drawing something in the back of the ones I'll be selling at the convention. After the convention you'll still be able to buy the book but it won't have any bonus art in it since those copies won't be in handled by me at all. More details on that later.
What's that you won't be able to make the convention and you want one of these limited run weird mind destroying books? I'll be making 5 copies available pre-convention that you can buy. It'll cost you $35 bucks and you'll have to tell me what you want drawn in it. How can you get one? Swing by my website
Something-a-go-go.com hit the contact button and send me an e-mail saying you want one and I'll give you the rest of the details. How's that sound? Yeah that's right, it sounds awesome. Thanks.

The wisdom of Jack Burton: Big Trouble in Little China
Some words of wisdom from one of my all time favorite movie characters: Jack Burton. I've never really understood why he never took off the way Ash from Evil Dead did. Jack Burton's an infinitely cooler character. Sure Ash can take a few hits and travelled through time, but Jack Burton looked bad ass while destroying an evil chinese ghost emperor while wearing lipstick! While Ash spent more than half of his first movie stuck under a bookcase, Jack Burton managed to escape the "Hell of the Upside Down Sinners." Also he's got slightly cooler day job and a side kick.
Not to mention a catchier theme song!
I wish there were more adventures of Jack Burton...
"Crawlin' through the burnin' snakes..."

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark
Another entry into the long list of bits of dialog from movies that I enjoyed. Also this is the first time I've drawn Elvira since high school (where the portrait I did of her ended up in some "best of high school student's art" art show). So there you have it. I'm still kinda bummed that the new Movie Macabre isn't on any station that I have access to so I haven't seen her new show.

Doin' some drawings....
little sneak peek at a few things I've been working on for the past couple of days. I might post the final versions of some of these at some point in the future. You never know.

Monstars: John Carpenter's Apocalypse Trilogy
So here it is my take on the three films of John Carpenter's Apocalypse Trilogy. I've show you Sutter Cain from "In the Mouth of Madness" and the dog from "The Thing" but in the middle you'll see something new. The big swirly jar of Satan from "Prince of Darkness". These three flicks are commonly known as The Apocalypse Trilogy since they all deal with the apparent end of the world. Coincidently they're also my favorite John Carpenter movies.

Monstars: Rubber (2011)
Saw this on the weekend. I'm not sure what genre you'd call it, but I'd definatly say Robert is a monster so, I'm adding him to the Monstars roster.
Yes, its a movie about a sentient tire with psycho-kinetic powers. No that's not the weirdest thing about the movie. While I enjoyed it, I'll say that its not a movie for everyone. Its Weird with a capital "WEIRD." Only bother watching it if you want to see something really different. word of warning there is a LOT of footage of a tire rolling around a desert landscape with nothing else happening.
Here's the trailer:
