Abominable Dr. Phibes

Someone recently asked me to draw Dr. Phibes, from the Vincent Price movie the Abominable Dr. Phibes. Since I love that movie I figured I'd give it a go. Someone else requested I draw No-Zone from the Toxic Crusaders, I drew him too.
My first non-educational comic job involved drawing the Toxic Crusaders, so it was kinda fun to go back and try drawing No-Zone again. If you wanna see the comic I drew its in the Lloyd Kaufman Presents: The Toxic Avenger And Other Tromatic Tales, but be warned it is a Troma book so its full of stuff your mom probably won't approve of. My comic was pretty family friendly, though.

LASERS!

Just felt like drawing this. I don't know who she is. Why she's blinded. Where those guns came from or anything. She just fell out of my pencil when I was doodling at work. I like how it turned out so I figured I'd post it. I hope you like it too.
Speaking of drawing I'm planning on participating in the Countdown to Halloween this year. You will see 31 skulls, through October.  It'll be pretty cool.
I hope.

Just another day at work.

Sometimes its a day of drawing maps, sometimes its bar graphs, occasionally missiles or vehicles. Today? I had to draw a yeti.  I really like my yeti drawing.

Space girl with Ray gun!

Recently picked up a weird shaped sketchbook figured I'd fill it with pin-up drawings. Since ladies are fun to draw. this is the first of them. I'm pretty happy with the Raygun

Can it be possible?!

There's a new chapter of Beach Blanket Bloodbath posted at the Bloodbath blog.
Go. Read. Enjoy. I hope there won't be as long a delay bringing you chapter 5 as there was between 3 and 4. I'm pretty happy with the pencil instead of ink look to these pages I probably will stick with that style for a while. let me know what you think.
thanks

Beachblanket Bloodbath Chapter 4 preview.

Lookit that! I've finally gotten around to getting back to Beach Blanket Bloodbath, what you see above are my really dirty pencil roughs, I'll be cleaning these up and putting them on the Bloodbath Blog, hopefully in the next couple of days. I'm thinking of doing a slightly different style this time. I don't think I'm going to bother inking anything, we see if it looks too crummy that way than I'll ink it. I'll probably post a quick little look at my process with one of these pages one the chapter's done. Until then take heart in the fact Beach Blanket Bloodbath isn't dead. And yes that is a special guest appearance by the Strange Kid of Strange Kids Club fame. I've got a little comical book story featuring him and the Bloodbath girls in the next Strange Kids Club Anthology book. Its a stand alone story and the incredibly awesome Leigh Young teamed up with me for that.

FanExpo Fun.

So here's some of the stuff that was interesting at Fan expo. up above you'll see a photo of some sketch cards I was doodling while sitting at the table, you always need something to do in between sales and what not. I had a great time sitting next to the guys from Omake Designs, they were selling some really boss t-shirts. The son of one of them stood in front of our table staring at all my horror stuff, I figure I owe him for making people interested in my art, so "Thanks Trent!"
oh, here's some more of my sketch cards.

Last time I was at FanExpo, I got Cassandra Peterson's Autograph, sadly she wasn't in Elvira garb, so I technically never got "Elvira's" autograph. This year she was back so I got this:
I took a quick pic of her after she signed it. Supposedly she was pretty sick the day before but she came out anyway in full Elvira regalia. She was pretty awesome to meet in character. Thanks Elvira!
And finally here's a little trivia for you. Who was the final victim of Freddy Krueger?
Give up?
It was me!
I figure since Mr. Kreuger himself, Robert England says I was his last victim (he added me to the kill count even) that makes it canon. So yep, Freddy killed me disguised as actor Robert England while I took a nap at my table in artist alley:
"AHAHAHAHAHA!"
He seemed pretty impressed that I'd take the time to map out all the kills he committed. I gave him a copy of it too. Will from Omake Designs purchased one of these prints too and managed to get to Robert England before me and he said England was taunting Lance Henrikson (who was sitting to England's left) about how none of Henrikson's fans plotted out graphics about how many people he killed.

Anyway the con was a blast, I think I might go back next year with a book of my Monstars.

And if you're interested I've still got a couple copies of the monstars prints, the Repo Man prints, and the art book. just send me an email abarr at somethingagogo.com I'll let you know how to get 'em.

Monstar Heroes: Alex Murphy, Robocop (1987)

Who doesn't love Robocop!? Nobody that's who. The second of my new Monstar Heroes.
Oh yeah. At fan expo I was selling prints of my Original Monstars 1922–2011 there were only two people who recognized most of them one was a ten year old kid dressed as Sloth from Goonies (he missed 4) the other was artist Trevor Henderson, who managed to not only name the movie but the name of the creature too. He missed two, but they were a couple of the more obscure ones (Monster-a-go-go, which nobody got and Adam Sorg from Color Me Blood Red) way to go Trevor, make sure you watch those flicks now.

Monstars Heroes: Cannonball Run (1981)

I've decided I've done enough monsters for a little while so while I still enjoy drawing these Monstars I'm going to try some movie Hero characters. I'll probably tire of this quickly and go back to monsters but in the mean time look forward to some weird and wacky heroes from cult and b-movies that I think are fun enough to draw.

This first one, of course, is Captain Chaos the alternate personality of Dom DeLouise's character in Cannonball Run

If you guys have any requests for Heroes you'd like to see in this set or more monsters you want me to add to the Monstar's list let me know.
